Nadia Ibrahim

E-commerce Owner, Petaling Jaya

I was worried our online store was not handling customer data properly. Luminos Law did a thorough review and gave us a clear action list. The summary they provided made it easy for our whole team to understand what needed to change. Really appreciated their patience in explaining things.

Chong Wei Lim

Small Business Owner, Shah Alam

Used their loan agreement review before signing a financing deal for my workshop. They found a few clauses I would have missed completely — one about early repayment penalties that could have cost me a lot. The annotated document was very helpful. Only wish turnaround was a bit faster, but overall worth it.

Graphic Designer, Kuala Lumpur

I needed help registering a trademark for my design studio. Siew Ling walked me through each step and explained the classes in terms I could actually follow. They handled the filing and kept me updated at every stage. The whole process felt manageable because of their support.

Clinic Administrator, Bangsar

Our clinic stores patient contact information and we were unsure whether we were meeting PDPA requirements. Luminos Law came in, mapped out our data flows, and identified a few gaps we had not noticed. The recommendations were practical and specific to our setup. Really good experience overall.

Café Owner, Mont Kiara

Had them review a hire purchase agreement for some equipment. They flagged several terms that were not in my favour and gave me a summary I could share with the vendor. I felt much more confident going into the negotiation. Straightforward service with no fluff.

Tech Startup Founder, Cyberjaya

We engaged Luminos Law for both a PDPA review and trademark registration. What stood out was how they kept things simple without being simplistic. They actually took the time to understand our business before giving advice. For a startup, that kind of care makes a real difference.

Client Journeys

A few examples of how our services helped clients move forward with confidence.

Online Retailer Brings Data Practices Into Compliance

THE CHALLENGE

A growing online retailer based in Selangor was collecting customer names, emails, addresses, and purchase histories through multiple platforms. They had no formal consent process in place and were unsure how long they could retain data under PDPA.

WHAT WE DID

We conducted a full PDPA compliance review, mapping every data touchpoint across their website, mobile app, and CRM. We identified four areas of non-compliance and prepared a prioritised action plan with template consent notices.

THE OUTCOME

Within six weeks, the retailer had implemented all recommended changes. Their consent mechanisms were updated, data retention policies documented, and third-party sharing agreements reviewed. The owner said the process was far less daunting than expected.

Local Brand Secures Trademark Before Expansion

THE CHALLENGE

A Kuala Lumpur-based food brand was planning to expand into retail stores but realised their brand name was not registered. They were concerned another business might file a similar mark before they could.

WHAT WE DID

We ran a preliminary availability search through MyIPO records, confirmed the name was available in the relevant class, prepared the application with accurate specifications, and filed it. We then monitored the application through examination.

THE OUTCOME

The trademark was accepted for registration after 14 months. The brand launched its retail expansion knowing their name was protected. The founder described the process as clear and well-managed from start to finish.

First-Time Buyer Navigates a Complex Financing Agreement

THE CHALLENGE

A young professional in KL was about to sign a hire purchase agreement for a vehicle. The contract was 20 pages long and filled with terms he did not fully understand, including several penalty clauses.

WHAT WE DID

We reviewed the entire agreement, annotated the document with explanations next to each key clause, and prepared a summary letter highlighting three specific areas where the terms were less favourable than standard market practice.

THE OUTCOME

Armed with our summary, the client negotiated a revision to the early repayment clause and gained a clearer understanding of his obligations. He signed the agreement feeling informed rather than pressured.
